Recap: Brainbox Pitch Night

The highly-anticipated Brainbox Pitch Night was held on Friday in Melbourne.

More than 250 people turned out to support some of the finest minds across the Dentsu Aegis Network pitch a brand new business idea for the chance to win more than A$100,000 in funding and mentoring support from some of our industry’s most senior leaders.

Eight finalists, representing several of Dentsu Aegis' brands from across Australia and New Zealand, were given 10 minutes to pitch their idea to an esteemed panel of judges:

  • Simon Ryan, CEO, Dentsu Aegis Network ANZ
  • Melissa Green, Head of Facebook, Melbourne
  • Lloyd Doddridge, CFO, Dentsu Aegis Network ANZ
  • Sandra Arico, Associate Director, RMIT Fastrack Innovation Program
  • Rebecca Tos, CEO, Columbus
  • Stuart Richardson, Founder and Managing Partner at Adventure Capital, and Co-Founder of York Butter Factory

Over more than two hours the finalists took to the stage to bring their ideas to life, enthralling the massive audience with their pitches, which included concept, marketing plans and financials.

After a great deal of deliberation, the judges selected team RingAround - Peter Boldeziuk of Columbus, Kristen Le of Dentsu Mitchell and Tom Wilson of Isobar.

RingAround will now receive $100,000 funding from the Dentsu Aegis Network and $15k worth of advertising from Facebook to help bring the idea to life.

The People’s Choice award went to the Iron Lady team of Mia and Phillip from WiTH Collective, receiving tickets to SXSW, along with flights and accommodation.

Judges also made mention of three highly-commended entries, DAN After Hours, NEUside and Sisters in Sync.
